Whether you're a runner, golfer, tennis player or gym goer, tight hamstrings can put a dampener on your game or workout routine.

The hamstrings are the muscles that are located at the back of the thigh from the hip to the knee. Without proper stretching, tight hamstrings will interfere with your performance and possibly lead to injury.  Tight hammies can also lead to knee pain and lower back pain. Stretching daily will help keep the muscles flexible and mobile. You should only stretch until you feel mild to moderate tension.

Here are 5 safe hamstring stretches that you can do daily.

  1. Hurdler Hamstring Stretch

  2. Supine Hamstring Stretch

  3. Seated Hamstring Stretch

  4. Dynamic Hamstring Stretch

  5. Standing Hamstring Stretch on Bench
